A Young Man Gets A "Drunk Driving" Arrest And Makes Up His Mind To Hire A DWI Lawyer
Even though Franklin wasn't an attorney, he told his son that he learned the hard way when as a young man he received a DWI, represented himself in court, paid three thousand dollars in fines and penalties, and served one month in the local jail. As he told his son, after he got released from jail, he found out from a lawyer friend that if he would have hired a "drunk driving" attorney to represent him in court, he more likely than not would have had his penalties and fines substantially reduced and he may have never served any time in the local jail.

To prevent you from losing your driver's license and to keep your record 'clean,' DUI lawyers begin by believing that you shouldn't have been arrested in the first place. With this firmly entrenched in their minds, DUI attorneys will 'fight' for you and for your legal rights."
When Lawrence listened to his dad explain this, it was as if his eyes were opened for the first time about the relevance of hiring a "driving under the influence" attorney. Near the end of their conversation, Lawrence said that he was beginning to grasp the importance of "driving under the influence" laws and what DWI attorneys can do for a person who has received a DUI arrest.
After getting "schooled" about DUI arrests, the role of DWI lawyers, and the fact that he didn't have to agree to take any field sobriety tests at the time of his arrest, Lawrence decided that he would without a doubt hire a "drunk driving" attorney to represent him in court. Something else, however, happened after he had talked to his father. Lawrence finally began to comprehend the critical nature of "drunk driving" arrests and, as a result, he arrived at a decision that from this moment forward, he would always drink in moderation so that he would never again have to go through another DUI arrest.
His dad smiled at Lawrence and mentioned the following: "son, it took me until I was forty-five years old to realize what you just told me. I am very proud of you." This did wonders for his self esteem and so Lawrence thanked his father and then said, "if I can always drink responsibly, I will never need to hire a DWI attorney again!"
There was, however, one thing that neither Lawrence nor his dad thought about, namely, if Lawrence is displaying any alcohol abuse signs or perhaps if he is displaying any of the routine signs of alcoholism. In fact, if Lawrence is manifesting any alcohol signs that indicate alcoholism or alcohol abuse, he may need alcohol treatment.
If truth be told, Lawrence may be required by the court to get treatment for his careless and abusive drinking. The good news, however, is that whatever it takes to deal with his excessive and unhealthy drinking, it seems that Lawrence will be motivated to do the "correct" thing.
